What’s on the ballot?


MANISTIQUE – Those voting by mail or in person will have the opportunity to cast their vote Aug. 4 for the Primary Election. In the primary, voters may select one partisan section, choosing from those candidates, as well as cast votes within the proposal section of the ballot.

Library Services Proposition, Proposition for Millage Renewal for Library Services in Schoolcraft County: For the purpose of funding library services in Schoolcraft County, and to levy for the purpose annually not more than .3 [3/10] mill (estimated to provide revenues of $151,221 in the first year of the levy), shall the limitation on the total amount of taxes which may be imposed upon all taxable property within Schoolcraft County be increased at the level of .3 (.30 cents per $1,000) on the taxable valuation of such property for taxes levied for a period of five years, the years of 2021 through 2024, inclusive?

Veteran Services

Tax Renewal for Operating the Schoolcraft County Veterans Service Office and the Veterans Relief Fund: Shall the millage rate renewal of 0.2000 mills (which is equal to .20 per $1,000 of taxable value) be assessed against all taxable value of real and tangible personal property in Schoolcraft County for a period of five years (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, inclusive) for the purpose of funding the Schoolcraft County Veterans Relief Fund and the Full Time Operation of the Schoolcraft County Veterans Service Office. It is estimated that this renewal of 0.2000 mills will generate revenue of approximately $70,668 during the first calendar year of the millage renewal.
