Come visit our gift shop and pick out some unique holiday items for your loved ones. Christmas is just around the corner! We are open Mon. through Fri. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You will find aprons, soaps, potholders, towels,

Christmas ornaments, scrubbies, children and adult bibs, children’s sweaters, baby blankets, quilts and so much more. Come and see all the creativity of our crafters!

Make sure to sign up for our upcoming Christmas party on Dec. 15. Please sign up by Dec. 12 to secure your spot. Social hour is from 3 – 4 p.m., music is from 4 – 5 p.m., dinner is around 5 p.m. and door prizes after dinner. We will be enjoying a dinner with turkey, meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, vegetables, and dessert. Call the office at (906) 341-5923 to RSVP so we can expect you.

The Manistique Senior Center is participating in a study through Michigan State University in the upcoming months. The goal of the study is “to reduce risks for financial abuse/ fraud for family caregivers who take care of an older Michigander with cognitive decline or dementia.”

We are looking for caregivers and older adults with cognitive decline to participate in this study. Participants will receive information about community resources tailored to their needs and some will receive additional skills training and case management services.

There is funding available and will allow for all participants to receive $100 simply for participating in the study. There are also other opportunities within the study to earn up to $500. Please contact us at the center by calling (906) 341-5923 or by email at seniors@ scsc.co.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Family Game Night! We played cards and dominoes, ate pizza, and had a lot of fun. Those who attended have already said they’d like to have another game night because they had so much fun this time around. Keep checking back to see when we land on a date for our next game night!
