Students from Mr. Lindstrom’s fourth grade class recently participated in an annual salmon release in the Manistique River, as well as an Adopt-a-Beach cleanup at the Lakeview Beach, next to the East Breakwater Lighthouse. As part of “Salmon in the Classroom”, students raised salmon eggs which were donated by the Thompson Fish Hatchery. Above, the students released the salmon, seen at right in their tank, into the river on May 22. Students participated in the beach program the same day by removing litter, monitoring and completing a beach health assessment that included science-based observation and testing. That information will be entered into the Adopt-a-Beach online system. 8p2.jpg
