Joe Blanchard (right) of Gould City, Mich., had the opportunity last week to play Upper Peninsula tour director to his good friend, Nashville recording artist David Frizzell, who was in the area for a visit. Blanchard took the opportunity to show Frizzel some of the local sights, including the Seul Choix Point Lighthouse and Mackinaw Trail Winery. The tour also included a trip to Mackinac Island, as well as a once in a life time climb to the top of the Mackinac Bridge. This will not be Frizzell’s only trip to the U.P. this year. He also will be appearing at the DreamMakers Theater in Sault Ste. Marie with Jett Williams on Sept. 21. For the first time since 1951, Frizzell and Williams will revisit the famous historical tour of Lefty Frizzell and Hank Williams. Frizzell has also teamed up with M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) this year to raise awareness of the dangers of driving impaired, as well as the service provided by the organization. 16p1.jpg
