Working with the Gladstone Office of the United States Department of Agriculture, the city of Manistique recently completed a Rural Development Grant from the USDA which allowed the public safety department to purchase a new 2014 Ford Utility Police Interceptor and related equipment. The total project cost $38,092 with $20,000 in funding being supplied by USDA. The city is one of many Upper Peninsula communities working with USDA, which has given financial assistance for many public projects.
