Jerry Thibault of Garden was one of the many veterans that boarded a chartered Boeing 737 in the early morning hours on Thursday, April 27, at Delta County Airport. As part of the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight, Thibault and other Upper Peninsula participants landed in Baltimore where they then boarded chartered buses to travel to the World War II Memorial, Korean and Vietnam memorials, Marine Corps Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. While at the cemetery, they were able to witness the changing of the guard. Upon their arrival in Washington, veterans were greeted by both U.S. Rep. Dan Benishek and U.S. Senator Carl Levin. Thibault is pictured looking at the names on the Vietnam Memorial wall. Another honor flight is being planned for September. Further information is available at www.upperpeninsulahonorflight.org.
