Above, volunteer firefighters fight a weekend blaze at U.P. State Trucking in Gulliver as smoke billows out of the garage which held four semi-tractors. According to Al Schultz, fire chief of the Doyle Township Volunteer Fire Department, his crew was paged to the fire at 9:51 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arriving at the scene, they found the building completely engulfed in flames. Despite fighting the fire for approximately five hours, the building and its contents were eventually deemed a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No one was in or around the building at the time of the fire, and no one was injured. Mutual aid was provided by Germfask, Manistique, Thompson and Hiawatha volunteer fire departments, as well as the Michigan State Police, DNR, Manistique EMS and the Red Cross.
