Firefighters from Schoolcraft, Delta and Alger Counties underwent a training session recently on the grounds of the old Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital. The training was organized by Hiawatha Volunteer Fire Department members Assistant Chief Bob Billings and firefighter Will Hagerty. Since the hospital is scheduled for demolition, the firefighters were able engage in training that, under normal circumstances, would have been impossible, for fear of damaging the building, explained Billings. The firefighters were trained in forcible entry, search and rescue, trapped and disoriented firefighter, positive pressure ventilation, incident command and radio communications. 7p1.jpg
