MDOC to hold hiring events at Michigan Works! locations

MARQUETTE – The Michigan Department of Corrections is now hiring for cooks, food supervisors, and corrections officers through­out the Upper Peninsula.

Corrections officer positions start at $17.32 an hour. Food ser­vices supervisor positions start at $18.40 an hour. Cook positions start at $17.22 an hour.

Qualifications for each position vary and can be found by visiting www.michigan.gov/statejobs or www.michigan.gov/mdocjobs.

Transcripts are required for cor­rections officers and training will be paid.

Interested applicants should visit a local Michigan Works! Ser­vice Center to get started on the application process and secure an appointment during one of the MDOC hiring events.

On June 5, there will be an MDOC hiring event at the Michi­gan Works! Houghton County Service Center and Michigan Works! Chippewa County Service Center from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

On June 6, there will be an MDOC hiring event at the Michi­gan Works! Dickinson County Service Center and Michigan Works! Luce County Service Cen­ter from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Keep in mind that Dickinson County is in the Central Time Zone.

On June 7, there will be an MDOC hiring event at the Michi­gan Works! Marquette County Service Center.
