Manistique Car Show has new website, new group

MANISTIQUE – Sporting the slogan “Small Town. Big Engines”, the newly designed website for the annual Manistique Car Show is up and running.

Organizers say that while the website remains a work in progress, the site currently serves informational purposes, such as listing the date and calendar of events.

Those planning on participating in the car show can also register for the event by downloading and completing the registration form located on the website at www.manistiquecarshow.com.

The event is now being organized by the Schoolcraft Tourism and Commerce – Merchants Labor Day Car Show committee. The car show is set for Sept. 1.

Two Manistique residents sentenced on drug charges

MANISTIQUE – Two Manistique residents arrested and charged as part of an area drug bust in August have been sentenced.

Stacy Lynn Clauss, 32, of 1012N Ash Road, Manistique, was recently sentenced in 11th Judicial Circuit Court to serve 11 months in jail for one count of possession of methamphetamine/ecstasy.

She was ordered to serve five months immediately, with the balance of her sentence held in abeyance pending successful completion of an 18-month probation term.

Clauss was given credit for 77 days served and was also ordered to pay $698 in court fines and costs.

Jon Robert Zentner. 26, of 315 N. Houghton Ave., Manistique, was sentenced in 11th Judicial Court to a 12 month of delay of sentence for one count of controlled substance – maintaining a drug house; and six months for controlled substance – possession of marijuana. The six-month sentence will be held in abeyance pending successful completion of a 12-month probation term.

Zentner was given credit for 60 days served and ordered to pay $1,108 in court fines and costs.
