Area man bound over in CSC case

MANISTIQUE – A Manistique man facing multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct has been bound over to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court.

Jared Ryan Billings, 27, of 402 Intake Park Road, was originally arraigned Dec. 20 in 93rd District Court on two counts of criminal sexual conduct, first degree (committed by an individual 17 years of age or older against an individual less than 13 years of age), a felony punishable by life or any term of years, but not less than 25 years, in prison and lifetime electronic monitoring; two counts of criminal sexual conduct, second degree (committed by an individual 17 years of age or older against an individual less than 13 years of age), a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison and lifetime electronic monitoring; and two counts of criminal sexual conduct, fourth degree, force or coercion, a misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison and/ or a fine of up to $500.

Judge Mark E. Luoma set a cash of surety bond of $500,000 for Billings, who remains lodged at the Schoolcraft County Jail.

On Jan. 8, Billings waived his preliminary examination and was bound over to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court. He is scheduled to appear for a pretrial Jan. 18 at 10 a.m.
