Lloyd W. Brown Lloyd W. Brown MANISTIQUE – Lloyd W. Brown, 93, of 450N River Road, Manistique, Mich., died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at his home which he built, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 16, 1924, in Hermansville, Mich., the son of Clio and Eva (Lecuyer) Brown and attended Manistique area schools.

Lloyd joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) until he was drafted by the U.S. Army to serve during WWII. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 10, 1943 to Feb. 21, 1946.

Upon returning to the states, Lloyd met the love of his life, Paulina M. Louis and they were married on Feb. 10, 1948, in Detroit, Mich. They moved back to Manistique in 1952 and raised their family here. Paulina preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 2013.

He was employed as a millwright for the Inland Lime and Stone Company for many years. He retired from Inland Lime and Stone Company and continued to work for Rudy Lawrence at Lagasco Enterprises, Inc. in Manistique.

Lloyd was a Commander and lifetime member of the Schoolcraft County V.F.W. Post No. 4420 and the Manistique Eagle’s Club. He was also a faithful member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique and Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed playing bingo, but he especially loved dancing. Most importantly he loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.

Lloyd is survived by his sons, Jim (Jo) Brown of Fairport, Mich., Mike (Becky) Brown of Manistique and Bill Brown of Manistique; daughters, Bobbi Brown of Escanaba, Mich, Paula Brown of Gladstone, Mich. and Sue (Chuck) Butkovich of Engadine, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 22 greatgrandchildren; brothers, Leonard Brown of Coldwater,

Mich., Loyal (Lonna) Brown of Gulliver, and Larry Brown of Manistique; sisters, Linda Rockhold of Novi, Mich. and Loretta Alexander of Elma, Wash.; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Paulina and his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis, Lawrence, Lyle and Pat; and his sister, Lorraine Weber.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique with Father Ben Paris officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Manistique. A luncheon will follow at the VFW in Manistique.
