Helen R. Barton Helen R. Barton MANISTIQUE – Helen R. Barton, 87, of Manistique, Mich., passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Nov. 22, 1929, in Manistique, the daughter of Sam and Mary (Rodman) Bosanic. She attended the Kendall School and Manistique Area Schools.

On June 1, 1946, the former Helen R. Bosanic married Vernon J. Barton in Manistique. They made their home and raised their family in Manistique. Vernon preceded her in death unexpectedly on Jan. 8, 1971.

Helen worked at the Wyman State Nursery in Manistique and was also the area Mary Kay Cosmetics representative for 35 years.

She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Parish of Manistique. She was also a lifetime member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters and the Schoolcraft County V.F.W. Post No. 4420 Auxiliary.

She loved to play bridge at the senior center and also enjoyed gardening, playing other card games, baking, and having coffee and bars with family and friends. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Richard) Gumuski and Judy (Duane) Sundin, both of Manistique; sons, David (Tooter) Barton, Daniel Barton, and Dennis (Rhonda) Barton, all of Manistique; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and nine great-greatgrandchildren; brothers, Emeric (Theresia) Bosanic, Joseph (the late Carolyn) Bosanic, Robert (Sigrid Doyle) Bosanic, Peter (Jan) Bosanic, Larry (Candy) Bosanic, all of Manistique; sisters, Ruth (Jack) Roemer and Betty (the late Merton) LaBar, both of Manistique; sister-in-law, Betty Bosanic of Lansing, Mich.; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amanda Barton; sisters, Amelia Bosanic and Mary Ann (the late Elton) Sample; brother, John Bosanic; and her sister-in-law, Sheila Bosanic.

Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., at the funeral home, with Father Ben Paris officiating. Burial will be held in the Fairview Cemetery at Manistique.
