Joe LeBlanc photos Joe LeBlanc photos Coming off a 4-1 win over the Negaunee Miners, Manistique Emeralds’ fastpitch softball team has dropped three in a row heading into the Mid Peninsula Conference tournament in Negaunee Saturday. Playing at Central Park Field last night, the Emeralds lost the first game against the Iron Mountain 5-3. Tied at two early in game two, the Emeralds dropped a 17-5 decision at the end of the sixth following an impressive fourth and sixth innings by the Mountaineers. Above, the Emeralds started out the night honoring their departing seniors, Amanda Menominee and Jessica Blaess. At right, on with a double, Renee Schuetter crossed the plate off a hit by Lexi Russell to put Manistique on the board. Below, Russell’s trip to home was not as easy. Off a head first slide, Russell tied the score for Manistique at two runs each.
