Fish funding

Courtesy photo Courtesy photo The Manistique Area Sport Fishing Club recently made a generous donation to the Indian Lake Sport and Recreation Association. The Club, which sponsors an annual ice fishing derby on Indian Lake, presented the association a check in the amount of $1,048. According to Rick Demers, association president, the funds will be used to purchase yeast, used to activate a rearing pond the association utilizes for their annual walleye planting. In cooperation with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, 2017 will mark the fifth consecutive year stocking of walleye has taken place in Indian Lake. Annual dues to the association are $25. If interested in joining or donating funds to support the stocking of walleye in Indian Lake, send a check to the Indian Lake Sport and Recreation Association, 9550W East Drive, Manistique, MI 49854.
