Martha A. Sheppard Martha A. Sheppard MANISTIQUE – Martha A. Sheppard, 88, of 223 N. 4th St., Manistique, Mich., died Friday, May 12, 2017, at Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique.

She was born Oct. 8, 1928, in Shingleton, Mich., the daughter of Lestor and Lucy (Wright) Livermore. She attended school in Germfask, Mich. and later graduated from Manistique High School.

On Jan. 10, 1947, she married Delbert R. Sheppard in Manistique. They made their home and raised their family in the Manistique area. Delbert preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2016.

Martha was self-employed as a seamstress for many years, and was a member of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church in Gulliver. She also taught Bible School and was involved with her church as a Sunday school teacher in addition to her own Saturday/Sunday school.

She enjoyed camping and traveling. She especially enjoyed traveling with her sisters over the past several years. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family whom she loved very much.

Martha is survived by her sons, Donald (Deborah) Sheppard of Cadillac, Mich. and Michael (Ramona) Sheppard of Manistique; daughter, Judith (Kenneth) Dietzel of Pigeon, Mich.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, J.D. (Barb) Livermore of Germfask, Louella (John) Snow of Rexton, Mich., David (Linda) Livermore of Garnet, Mich., Lester (Kathy) Livermore of Naubinway, Mich., Evelyn (Dale) Burgess of Engadine, Mich., Roy (Karen) Livermore of Rexton, Frank (Yvonne) Livermore of Milan, Mich., Frances (Don) Berry of Manistique and Steve (Deb) Livermore of Engadine.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Rex D. Sheppard; grandson, Gregory M. Sheppard; and her siblings, Clayton Livermore and Ethel Livermore.

Visitation was held from 1-3 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017, at Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services followed at 3 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor J.D. Livermore officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery at Germfask. A luncheon followed at the Germfask Community Center.
