Habitat for Humanity HiawathaLand participated in the 10th annual National Women Build Event, sponsored by Lowe’s, Friday. A group consisting mostly of women gathered at a home on Elm Street in Manistique to paint, as well as complete yard work and gardening. The group was supervised by Guy Thorell, a member of the construction team at HFHH. Paul Mitchell the School in Escanaba also sent a team from their “Be Nice or Else” group to participate. Lunch was provided by Linda Levin and Andrea Wedegartner. The event was the kick-off to the 2017 “Paint the Town” program in the HFHH area. Habitat will continue to paint and repair as many homes as possible through the summer and fall. Those living in Schoolcraft, Alger, Luce or West Mackinac counties who need their home preserved with a fresh coat of paint, may visit www.hiawathalandhabitat.com or call 341-7437 to inquire. See page A2 for a group photo.
