Search is on for annual pageant participants

New royal court to be selected during fair

MANISTIQUE – The search is on for the next Schoolcraft County royal court. Selections will be made during the annual pageant, held at the Schoolcraft County Fair on July 26.

The event is slated to begin at 3 p.m.

All contestants must:

-Have proof of residency in Schoolcraft County

-Be in good health and participate in all pageant/fair activities

-Be of good moral character

-Have never been convicted of a crime or have charges pending

Additional criteria for the Miss Schoolcraft County contestants include being female between the ages of 14-19 years old, being childless, and never have been married or have had a marriage annulled.

Junior Miss contestants must be female between the ages of 9-13 years old.

Little Miss contestants are required to be female between the ages of 4-8 years old.

Little Prince contestants must be males between the ages of 4-8 years old.

Pageant participants must also enter two projects into the fair – an additional requirement for 2014. Examples include a craft, photograph, plant, flower or vegetable. All contestants must also be present for all rehearsals and pre-pageant activities.

Contestants will be judged on:

Miss Schoolcraft – The Miss division will be judged on the following categories: poise, public speaking, talent and congeniality. The competition will begin with rehearsal, dinner, initial meeting of the judges and a written letter of recommendation for each girl (personal character reference). The pageant portion of the competition will begin with an onstage individual interview with the Master of Ceremonies. After all interviews are done, each of the contestants will complete the talent portion of the contest.

Junior Miss – The Junior Miss division will be judged on the following categories: poise, public speaking, talent and congeniality. The competition will begin with rehearsal, dinner and initial meeting of the judges. The pageant portion of the competition will begin with an onstage individual interview with the MC. After all interviews are done, each of the contestants will complete the talent portion of the contest.

Little Miss and Little Prince – The Little Miss/ Little Prince divisions will be judged on: poise, public speaking, talent and congeniality. The pageant portion of the competition will begin with an onstage individual interview with the MC. After all interviews are complete, each contestant will complete the talent portion of the contest.
