Ron Rubick Memorial Golf outing to take place Sunday

MANISTIQUE – Organizers of the Ron Rubick Memorial Golf Outing and Fundraiser are busy putting the final touches on this year’s event, set to take place Sunday at the Indian Lake Golf Course.

Going into its 11th season, the annual event, which originated as a fundraiser for the Manistique Emerald football program, has now joined forces with the Manistique High School Green Fire Booster Club. The proceeds from the event will be split between the two organizations with all money raised used to benefit MHS athletic programs and their participants.

The tournament was named after Ron Rubick, who was instrumental in assisting many football programs. Rubick passed away in 2009.

All men, women, parents, alumni, parents of alumni, current, former and future players, high school age students, coaches, faculty and football fans are invited to participate, walk-ons will be welcome on the day of the event. Registration starts at 8 a.m., with shotgun start at 9.m. Golf carts are not included, but are available at the course and can be reserved by calling the club directly at 341-5600.

The cost to participate is $60 per person, with payment made payable to Manistique Football. The fee covers golf, lunch on the course and prizes.

Participants will have the opportunity to win a $5,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one on the par three No. 2 hole and additional hole-inone prizes include golf clubs, stereo and Visa cards on designated holes.

Individuals who do not have a foursome to play can contact Todd Kangas at 341-8494 to be placed on a team.
