She was born March 1, 1916, in Kentucky the daughter of George and Millie Mae (Cleveland) Johnson and attended school there.
On Nov. 15, 1930, the former Trula Johnson married Mack Dotson in Kentucky. They lived and raised their family in Kentucky and in the Detroit area and later moved back to Kentucky. Mack preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1980, and Trula moved to Manistique shortly thereafter.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking dinners for her family. She also enjoyed playing bingo, tending to her flowers, gardening, canning and crocheting.
Trula is survived by her sons, Charles Dotson of Taylor, Mich., and Jerry (Carol) Dotson of Manistique; daughters, Betty Paulson of Garden, Mich., Shirley Jones of New Port Richey, Fla., and Ann Lelo of Manistique; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-greatgrandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Johnson.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, July 2, at Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique.
A graveside service followed at 12:30 p.m., on Wednesday, at Fairview Cemetery in Manistique with Reverend Jay Martin officiating.
Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Manistique.
