Explorer program sets schedule

Visitors can take part in daily activities

MANISTIQUE – The Indian
Lake State Park is offering the
following “Explorer” programs for
the week of July 3-12.
July 3
Discovery Zone
6p.m. – Visit with the Park
Explorer Guide at the beach for
a special peek into nature with
stories, games, songs or crafts
about the wide wild outdoors.
Night Shadows
9p.m. – Discover the best natural
insect remedy and uncover the
truth about Michigan’s only flying
mammal at the Picnic Shelter.
Don’t forget the bug spray.
July 4
Greener in 30 minutes
3p.m. – Meet with the Park
Explorer Guide near the first
bathrooms to find good old
fashioned fresh solutions for
excess discards.
Native Animal Love

5p.m. – Visit with the Park
Explorer Guide at the beach for
a special peek into nature with
stories, crafts and songs about the
wide wild outdoors.
Tree Trek
7p.m. – Spruce up your camping
experience with a moderate hike.
Meet near the first bathrooms and
don’t forget the bug spray.
July 5
The Big Spring
2p.m. – Visit with the Park
Explorer guide at Kitch-iti-kipi at
Palms Book State Park to learn
about regional history on a raft ride
over the crystal clear water.
Canine Cousins
7p.m. – Wolf, Fox and Coyote
are the wild canines that roam
Michigan’s UP. Join the Park
Explorer Guide at the first
bathrooms and discover their
unique behaviors.
July 9
Who flew there?
11a.m. – Take a morning stroll
with the Park Explorer Guide and
discover the variety of song birds
filling the park.

What in the World!
2p.m. – Meet the Park Explorer
Guide at Palms Book State Park to
uncover the mystery of the week.
Recycling
5p.m. – Meet the Park Explorer
Guide at the beach shelter and find
methods for a green camp and a
green lifestyle.
July 10
Crafty Camping
6p.m. – Meet the Park Explorer
Guide at the beach shelter to create
a unique keepsake of your camping
stay.
Night Shadows
9p.m. – Discover the best natural
insect remedy and uncover the
truth about Michigan’s only flying
mammal at the Picnic Shelter.
Don’t forget the bug spray.
July 11
Rodent Ramble
5p.m. – What creatures are 40
percent of the mammal population?
Join the Explorer Guide near the
first bathrooms for a walk on the
wild side and don’t forget the bug
spray.
Woods Wander

7p.m. – Meet the Park Explorer
Guide by the first bathrooms for
a closer look at the woods. Dress
comfortably and don’t forget the
bug spray for this moderate 40
minute hike.
July 12
Drum Circle at the Big Spring
10a.m.–12p.m. – Celebrate
nature and community (upon
confirmation).
Big Spring History
1p.m. – Visit with the Park
Explorer Guide at Kitch-iti-kipi
at Palms Book State Park to learn
about regional history on a raft ride
over the crystal clear water.
Get Your Game On!
7p.m. – Unplug and investigate
a variety of games including disc
golf, bean bags, bocce ball and
ladder golf.
Meet at the first bathrooms near
the camp host unless otherwise stated. Adults and children welcome.
Programs are free and open to all.
