Cross country adds color race

MANISTIQUE – Rolling with the success of their Zombie Run and Snow Angel Snowshoe Race, the Manistique cross country team is gearing up for their next big race. Based on community support and interest from area runners, the team has announced the “Race to the Emerald City – Manistique Color Run”.

The theme this year is “Follow da Yooper Brick Road”.

At the colorful event, runners will get blasted with safe, eco-friendly, powdered dye ... turning each into a technicolor canvas of fun.

The event will take place on the Manistique Boardwalk July 26. The start time for the 5K race is set for 8 a.m.

Race to the Emerald City is an event for everyone, regardless of fitness level.

Whether a tri-athlete or an evening walker, it’s an event for he whole family.

Come in a crazy costume, thrift store finds or even all white

– remember runners are the canvas for this race. Light colors will show off the amazing dye colors the best.

The entry fee is $25 if paid before July 7. Late entry fee will be $30.

Further information is available by contacting Manistique cross country Coach Laurie Lindstrom at llindstrom@ manistique.k12.mi.us.

The event will serve as a fundraiser to support the cross country program.
