Raredon takes home MFCU $1K scholarship

MANISTIQUE – Manistique Federal Credit Union recently awarded its eighth annual scholarship. The scholarship was open to all high school seniors who have been members of Manistique Federal for at least the last six months.

Richard Ketcik, volunteer on the Board of Directors of Manistique Federal Credit Union, presented the $1,000 award to Alicia Raredon a senior at Big Bay De Noc High School.

Raredon has been very active in the school and community.

She has been a member of Student Council, Student Forum, Health Occupations Students of America, participated in Engineering Olympics, and also served as part of the National Honor Society for three years.

Raredon also participated in volleyball, track, basketball, drama, yearbook, singing and raising money for CBC, ringing bells for the Salvation Army, raising money for the Fourth of July Committee, building houses, cleaning the office and serving lunches for Habitat for Humanity.

She has been admitted to Bay College and is interested in pursuing a career in special education.
