Local VA employee attends security training

IRON MOUNTAIN – James W. Foote, RN, assigned to the Manistique VA Rural Outreach Clinic, recently completed training offered by the Center for Domestic Preparedness, in Anniston, Ala.

The CDP is operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and is the only federally-chartered Weapons of Mass Destruction training facility in the nation.

“This is one of the best training I’ve ever attended for anyone in the field of health care, whether you are in nursing, EMS, engineering, leadership, security, or emergency management,” said Foote. “The instructors are the best of the best, and the settings are very realistic.”

Foote and other responders who completed this training gained critical skills to respond effectively to local incidents or potential Weapons of Mass Destruction events.
