Drama club to present ‘Willy Wonka’ comedy

MANISTIQUE – Manistique High School’s Drama Club will be presenting “Willy Wonka, Jr.”, this weekend in the Frederickson Auditorium. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.

Roald Dahl’s timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, which features the songs from the classic family film “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”.

Roald Dahl’s “Willy Wonka Jr.”, follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy.

UP weight restrictions still in effect on roads

LANSING – Weight restrictions are no longer in effect on state trunkline highways from the southern Michigan border north to the Mackinac Bridge. However, weight restrictions remain imposed and enforced on all state trunkline highways in the Upper Peninsula. State routes typically carry M, I, or US designations.

In the restricted areas, the following will apply:

-On routes designated as “allseason routes” (designated in green and gold on the MDOT Truck Operators Map), there will be no reduction in legal axle weights.

-On routes designated as “seasonal”, there will be a posted weight reduction of 25 percent for rigid pavements and 35 percent for flexible pavements.

-All extended permits will be valid for oversize loads in the weight-restricted area on the routes. Single-trip permits will not be issued for any overweight loads or loads exceeding 14 feet in width, 11 axles and 150 feet in overall length.
