Amity group to hold lunceon meeting May 14

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique Amity Group will hold a luncheon meeting on May 14, at a.m. at the 40 Bar and Grill on Deer Street. This will be the last meeting until September.

Methodist church planning monthly pasty sale

MANISTIQUE – The women of Manistique First United Methodist Church will hold a monthly pasty sale May 14 and 15. The sale takes place at the church, and pasties are $3.50 each.

Supplies are limited, so early orders are suggested. Call 341- 6662 to place an order or for more information.

UP Regional Blood Center holding area drives

MANISTIQUE – The U.P. Regional Blood Center, a service

Marquette General, will hold blood drive on May 15, at the Blanchard Center in Manistique.

The drive will be 1 – 5:15 p.m.

To schedule an appointment, call Ruth Annelin at 341-7578. Walk-ins are also welcome during collection time.

MSP warning residents of recent phone scam

ST. IGNACE – Troopers from the Michigan State Police – St. Ignace post are warning residents of a phone scam in the area. The callers are portraying themselves as IRS agents advising the victim that they owe back taxes.

Troopers describe the callers as “very pushy”, even threatening the victims that they will be arrested if they do not comply.

MSP is warning residents not to give out any personal information, social security number, bank account numbers, etc. over the phone.
