Indian Lake group to host cormorant meet

MANISTIQUE – The Indian Lake Sports and Recreation Association will host a cormorant harassment meeting at 5 p.m. on April 27 at the Big Spring Inn.

Anyone interested in participating in this year’s harassment program must attend.

Community orchestra will hold spring show

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique Community Orchestra Spring Concert will take place April 27 at 3 p.m., at the First Baptist Church on Walnut Street in Manistique.

Manistique Community Orchestra currently includes musicians from Escanaba, Newberry, Gladstone, Curtis and the Manistique area. This year’s spring program will feature a variety of classical selections.

Admission is free. Refreshments will be served after the concert in the multi-purpose room. A “free will” offering will be at the door.

Women’s club annual meeting set for May 13

MANISTIQUE – Tickets are now available for the GFWC Manistique Women’s Club annual meeting on May 13. The meeting, themed “What’s Your Bag”, will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the “40” Bar and Grill.

In keeping with the theme, a silent auction of tote bags and purses will benefit the club’s general fund.

In addition to entertainment and socializing, Darlene Pruess will install the 2014-16 executive board.

Tickets for dinner may be purchased at the Peoples Store now until noon on May 9. Tickets will not be available after that time. Visitors and new members are welcome.
