Hiram J. Peterson
He was born May 29, 1943, in Escanaba, Mich., the son of Rueben and Pearl (Squires) Peterson and attended Manistique area schools.
“Hi” was employed with his father and brothers at Peterson’s Fishery in Manistique. He also worked construction on the original Manistique marina project.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Manistique and was an Elder of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. He enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, keeping up to date on car brands and models and watching wrestling on TV. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Detroit Tiger fan. He enjoyed being with his family and was especially fond of reading to and playing with the children during get-togethers.
Hiram is survived by his brother, Jerome P. Peterson of Manistique; sisters-in-law, Marlene Peterson of Manistique, Martha Peterson of Knoxville, Tenn. and Dorothy
Peterson of Escanaba; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rueben, Robert and Byron Peterson.
Visitation will be held from 1:30- 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manistique. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the church, with Reverend David Hueter officiating. Burial will be held in the Thompson Township Cemetery at Thompson, Mich.
