Elizabeth J. Young

RIVERDALE, Mich. – Elizabeth (Bette) J. Young, 84, of Riverdale, Mich., passed away at her home on Thursday, March 13, 2014.

Elizabeth was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Nahma, Mich. and grew up in Garden, Mich., in the Upper Peninsula.

In 1948, she married Ernest Kralik (deceased) of Manistique, Mich.

In 1969, she moved to Lansing, and later married Edmund Young. Elizabeth worked for Schoolcraft County DSS and then Ingham County DSS.

When she and Ed retired they opened Westwind Orchards, a you pick apple, berry and vegetable farm in Riverdale.

She is survived by her children, Ken (Vickie) Kralik, Kristine Hammond and Karolyn Foland, all of Riverdale; sister, Dawn (Ken) O’Neil of Powers, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; plus several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; stepson, John Young; her mother, Senya Kresick; sisters, Joy and Lorraine; and her only brother, Randall Maynard.

She will be sadly missed by her family.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, at 1:30 p.m. at the Sibley Cemetery in Riverdale. A luncheon will follow.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Make A Wish Foundation.
