Bay College selects cast for spring drama

ESCANABA – “The Miracle Worker” by William Gibson will be performed by the Bay College drama department in April. This drama follows the childhood of Helen Keller and the tenacious struggle to overcome her disabilities.

With the help of her inspired teacher, Annie Sullivan, the story portrays human courage and dedication.

According to director Crystal Dwyer, a hardworking cast has been selected. Playing the part of Annie Sullivan is sophomore Liz LaChapelle from Rock. Portraying members of the Keller family are Joe Niebauer, Hailey MacBride, and Tyler Myrick of Escanaba. Escanaba High School freshman Erin Linderoth has been given the role of Helen. Rounding out the cast are Matt Marenger and Nicolette Goodchild of Escanaba, Marissa LaVigne of Gladstone, and Aaron Radlicki of Rapid River. Children cast are Caden Wiles and Gia Economopoulos. Student Director is Zack Major of St. Ignace.

The 1962 movie of The Miracle Worker won three Academy Awards.

All performances of The Miracle Worker will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Besse Center Theatre. Production dates are April 10, 11, and 12.
