Kiwanis of Manistique will be providing spring break activities at the Manistique Middle/ High School for students beginning April 1 through April 4. On Tuesday, April 1, there will be free swim from noon until 2 p.m. On Wednesday, April 2, free open gym from noon until 2 p.m. On Thursday, April 3, it is free swim again from noon until 2 p.m. Finally, at the movie theater, beginning at noon is the movie, “Muppets Most Wanted” on Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5. Cost is $1.

Congratulations to the following high school teachers recognized at the recent Academic Banquet by graduating seniors: Michelle LaVigne honored by Coby Ryan; John Ziemba honored by PJ Birr; and Rob Schwartz honored by Mandy Swayer.

Team 4835 (The Manistique Junk-Yard Dawgs) once again competed in the Traverse City Regional FIRST Robotics competition. This year’s competition was called Aerial Assist. Robots had to pass, shoot, and score a ball that was 24 inches in diameter. Points were earned for scoring in high and low targets, and assisting other robots. In a field of 40 teams, Manistique ranked as high as seventh place at one point during the competition. Unfortunately, Team 4835 did not make it out of pool play and into the finals. This competition wraps up the second season for Manistique Robotics.

Seniors – The Lions International is offering a District 10 Scholarship for students who have a learning and/or physical disability and haveacumulativeGPAofaC(3.0) or better. The application deadline is April 15. If you have any questions or would like an application, please see Mr. Rochon in the Guidance Office.

The ninth annual CBC Boys and Girls Basketball One Day Tournament is scheduled for March 29.

Participants in grades four to six play at Emerald Elementary and Manistique High School. Entry fee is $100 (checks payable to CBC). Teams must consist of players from only the grade the team represents.

Little League registration is scheduled for the Community Room of the Manistique Middle/ High School from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9.

There will be a Green Fire Athletic Booster Club meeting in the Community Room beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 14.

April 21: Monthly School Board Meeting, Community Room – 6:30 p.m.
