Charter for league to be renewed

MANISTIQUE – Organized in 1959, Manistique Little League prides itself on promoting, developing, and supervising the interest of those who participate in Little League baseball and in recent years Little League softball. In its 55th season serving the children and families of Schoolcraft County, the program now has something for everyone.

In response to an explosion of interest by local families to provide further opportunities for children to play baseball, Manistique Little League has elected to renew its charter for Little League Baseball. Manistique Little League Baseball will join the already popular and successful Girls Fast Pitch softball program, which has become fiercely competitive in the Upper Peninsula’s District 10.

Little League baseball, the world’s largest youth sports organization, has officially launched its 75th, Diamond Anniversary year, celebrating the fundamental values of the program – community, family, friendly competition and relationships that last a lifetime.

Registration dates for the upcoming 2014 softball and baseball season are set for March 19 and April 9 in the Manistique High School community room from 4 to 7 p.m. In keeping with the spirit of community partnership, Manistique’s Little League registration fee will be $35 per player with a family cap of $85 for any family registering three or more players.

Manistique Little League will have the following age divisions for baseball. T-Ball (4-7), Minor League (8-10), Major League (11-12), Junior League (12-14), Senior League (13-16) and Big League (15- 16).

The softball age divisions will include T-Ball and coach assisted (7-8), player and coach pitched (9-10), Minor League (11-12), Major League (13-14) and Senior League (14-17).

Manistique Little League continues to welcome any potential sponsors or donors to contact them via email at mstqleague@gmail.com.
