Annual Pigs vs. Punks set for March 12 at MHS

MANISTIQUE – The Pigs vs. Punks basketball game will be held March 12 at the Manistique High School gymnasium. All proceeds from the annual friendly face-off between Manistique area law enforcement and Manistique High School seniors will benefit the class of 2016.

Tip off is set at 7 p.m., and attendees will pay $1 per student and $2 per adult to watch the event.

Included in the event is a concession stand, half court basketball shot contest, paper airplane toss contest, 50/50 raffle, and other activities.

Ten contestants have agreed to be in the “Kiss the Pig” contest, including: Jon Johnson of FutureMark Manistique; Dr. Randy Olli of the Schoolcraft Rural Health Clinic; John Ziminski of Jack’s Fresh Market; MHS Principal John Shiner; MHS Athletic Director Rob Ryan; MHS teacher Michelle Lavigne; Emerald Elementary Principal Erik Mason; Matt Selling of mBank; Tina Burnis of Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility; and Scott Hoezee of State Savings Bank.

The contestant with the most money in their “money bucket” will have to kiss a pig. To have any contestant kiss the pig, visit their place of employment and contribute money to the bucket.

Tickets now available for MHSAA Basektball Finals

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Tickets for the Michigan High School Athletic Association Girls and Boys Basketball Finals are on sale now from the Breslin Center Ticket Office.

Both can be ordered online by clicking the Breslin Center Ticket Office link on either the “Girls Basketball” or “Boys Basketball” pages at the MHSAA Web Site, http:// www.MHSAA.com. They also can be ordered over the phone by calling (800) 968-2737.

Girls Semifinals tickets cost $8 per session, with a $3 service charge then applied to each order. Finals tickets cost $10 per session with the $3 service charge then applied (only one service charge is applied if Semifinals and Finals tickets are purchased together). All girls basketball tickets are for general admission. The Girls Basketball Semifinals are March 13- 14, with all four Finals on March 15.

Boys Semifinals tickets are the same price. The Boys Basketball Semifinals are March 20-21, with all four Finals on March 22.

There are two Finals sessions; the Class D and A championship games are one session, and the second includes the Class C and B championship games. An all-Finals ticket good for attendance of all four championship games is also available at a cost of $20.

A Month Pass on MHSAA.tv for $14.95 will give a viewer access to events over a 30-day period from the time it is purchased. Over the next two weekends of live Winter championship coverage, the following events will be featured:

A Day Pass is available for $9.95. All events will be available for free on-demand viewing by Wednesday the week following their initial live airing.
