Shirley’s Angels support group plans meeting

MANISTIQUE – Shirley’s Angels Breast Cancer Support Group will meet March 13. The meeting will take place from 6:45 – 8:15 p.m. at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital.

This month’s topic will be, “Prevention and Treatment of Lymphedema”.

Schoolcraft foster grandparents set in-service

MANISTIQUE – The Schoolcraft County Foster Grandparents in-service meeting will be held March 14 at 11 a.m. in the Manistique Senior Center.

Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

The Foster Grandparent Program is administered by the Menominee- Delta-Schoolcraft Community Action Agency.

Local Elks Lodge to host annual chili cook-off

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique local Elks Lodge No. 632 will host the fourth annual Chili Cook-Off on March 8. The event benefits the Elks National Foundation

The public is welcome to participate. There will be awards for first, second, third and people’s choice. No registration necessary.

To enter chili, just drop it off between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on March 8 in the dining room at the Elks Lodge.

The event costs $5 for residents wishing to taste the chili entries, and free for cook-off participants. Judging will take place from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. with people’s choice voting opening at 6:30 p.m. Awards will be announced at 8 p.m. There will be a silent auction, 50/50 and meat tray raffles with proceeds going to support the Elks National Foundation.

Locally the Elk’s National Foundation funds college scholarships for Manistique High School graduates, Bay Cliff Health Camp, DARE, robotics, soccer, the Hoop Shoot, veterans and the Elks’ Community Investment Program.
