Manistique Amity Group plans March meeting

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique Amity Group will meet March 12 at 9:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church on Main St. in Manistique.

Connie Frenette, director of the Manistique Senior Center, will be the guest speaker.

New members and guests are always welcome at amity meetings. For more information, call 341-7444.

Retired school personnel to meet on March 12

MANISTIQUE – The Schoolcraft and Eastern Delta Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel’s March meeting will be March 12.

The meeting takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital Community Room.

Scott Chartier will present a program on sleep apnea and COPD.

The hospital’s cafeteria staff will serve lunch.

A business meeting will follow the program and lunch.

Methodist women planning monthly pasty sale

MANISTIQUE – The women of Manistique First United Methodist Church will hold a monthly pasty sale March 12 and 13. The sale takes place at the church, and pasties are $3.50 each.

Supplies are limited, so early orders are suggested. Call 341- 6662 to place an order or for more information.

Bay offers scholarship opportunities for area

ESCANABA – Each year, Bay de Noc Community College awards over $300,000 in scholarships to students. More than 250 scholarships are available for the fall 2014 semester through the Bay College Foundation.

These scholarships are sponsored by friends of the college, including: staff, faculty, businesses, community organizations and individuals. Students can use scholarship awards to help pay tuition, fees, and books.

Bay College has a new online scholarship application process. By completing the online application, students will be eligible to receive any of the scholarships they meet the criteria for. The deadline to apply for scholarships for the fall 2014 semester is March 15. In order to be considered, students must apply at www.baycollege.edu/scholarshipapp

Hardees to donate percentage of sales to CBC

MANISTIQUE – Local businesses are continuing to step up for the local CBC Fund Drive.

On April 13 from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m., Hardees of Manistique will donate 15 percent of their sales toward CBC, which raises funds for area charities.
