They will now advance to state competition this weekend at the The DeltaPlex in Grand Rapids.

This is Manistique’s fifth appearance at finals. They qualified in 2009, 10, 11 and 13.

The top four teams in Regions 7 and 8 for Division 4 will complete for the state championship. Here the Emeralds will encounter the best of the best. All four teams in Region 7 scored in the 730s.

Competing at Regionals, the Emeralds took second place with their three-round score of 705.06.

Beckenridge took first place with a combined score of 727.02.

The only other Upper Peninsula team to advance was Munising, who took fourth with a score of 692.10.

The team will compete on Saturday at 2 p.m. Manistique will compete second in both rounds one and two. In round three, they drew fifth place.

The Emeralds will compete against Breckenridge, Houghton Lake, Munising, Michigan Center, Vandercook Lake, Hudson and Merrill.
