McDonald Lake Derby 15 years and running

Courtesy photo GULLIVER – Now in its 15th year, BG and Gerry Kokesh, with the assistance of many community volunteers, have once again successfully held the annual McDonald Lake Fishing Derby.

The two-day tournament kicked off Saturday morning and concluded at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

In the kids’ 14 and under division, Adam Gung had the longest perch measuring in at 12 inches. He received a mount by Woods and Water Taxidermy.

Jeremy Putman took first place in the walleye division. His catch measured in at 20 3/4 inches and was 3.2 pounds. The prize walleye netted him $300.

In the pike division, it was Jim Powell who finished the day on the board. His fish measured in at 33 3/4 inches and was 10.3 pounds. He also received $300 for taking first.

Following all the weights and measurements, several awards were handed out at the landing.

Winners and prizes included:

Kids Perch

First place, Adam Gung, 12 inches, .7 pounds.

Second place, Cole Herbst, 10 inches, .5 pounds.

Third place, Johnny Nord, 10 inches, .4 pounds.

Adults- Perch

First place, Joe Kolinski, 12 inches, .6 pounds, $300.

Second place, Keith Kolinske, 11 1/2 inches, .8 pounds, $120.

Third place, Homer Joslin, 9 3/4 inches, .4 pounds, $50.

Walleye

First place, Jeremy Putman, 20 3/4 inches, 3.2 pounds, $300.

Second place, Emily Nord, 20 1/2 inches, 2.6 pounds, $120.

Third place, Chad Frenette, 17 1/2 inches, 1.8 pounds, $50.

Pike

First place, Jim Powell, 33 3/4 inches, 10.3 pounds, $300.

Second place, Ryan Weber, 28 1/2 inches, 5.0 pounds, $120.

Third place, Elaine Maulthaupt, 28 1/4 inches, 5.01 pounds, $50.
