Halpin, a sophomore, medaled in four events at the season finale. The most historic, was her second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle race. Halpin broke the Manistique High School record of 27.06 set by Chloe Forstner in 2001. Halpin set the new mark at 26.72. Given her determination to break the record this season, and her ability to swim for two more seasons, Coach Beth Aldrich is confident Halpin will be setting her sites on a new record again before she graduates.

Halpin additionally set a new time in the 100 freestyle at 1.01.1. She had previously set the mark at 1.01.59 earlier in the season. That time medaled her in third at finals.

She also received a third place medal in the 200 freestyle relay with teammates Morgan Kangas, Cassidy Garvin and Brittany Zellar. The foursome followed up with a fifth place medal in the 400 freestyle relay.

Manistique senior diver Robert Ayotte, who started diving late in the season, was able to secure a fourth place medal with a total diving score of 160.80.

Ayotte also received a sixth place finish as a member of the 400 freestyle relay team with PJ Birr, Trevor Ayotte and Caleb Swanson. Swanson and T Ayotte are both freshman, so we are look forward to future medal finishes from these two.
