Honored to serve

Thompson Township recently honored the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw and its crew for continuing the long standing tradition of bringing the true spirit of Christmas to the people of Chicago. For more than a decade, the new Christmas Tree Ship has assumed the duty of making the holiday season a little brighter for those who have so little by loading trees on the deck and carrying them to Chicago. This holiday tradition began with Captain Schuenemann.
