Area writer to donate book sales to shelters

GARDEN – Bigwater Publishing recently announced the release of “Adventures with Vinnie” by Donna Winters of Garden. The book relays the experiences of Donna and her husband, Fred, following the adoption of an older shelter dog named Vinnie.

From his first day to his last, the only predictable thing about the black lab mix named Vinnie was his unpredictability. Loving and loyal, an escape artist to rival Houdini, and a genuinely comical fellow, his antics soon convinced.

Winters’ goal is to raise funds for animal shelters and increase awareness of older dogs in need of homes.

“Profits and royalties from any copies I sell will go to animal shelters,” said Winters.

Information on purchasing copies for resale can be obtained by sending an email to info@ BigwaterPublishing.com.

Readers can purchase the book in paperback format or for Kindle directly from Amazon at www.amazon.com/dp/B00HK1ZU5C. The book contains a dozen full color images of Vinnie with his family.

Club continues party tradition at facility

MANISTIQUE – The first birthday party of the New Year was held recently at the Medical Care Facility. This marks the 33rd year that the GFWC has sponsored the monthly celebrations, initiated by the late Dorothy Hoholik.

Three birthdays were celebrated, Kenneth Kamenczak, Isabelle Gorrie and Lois Nelson. They each received a birthday card and lap robe.

Rita Rossier donates the cakes each month in memory of her parents, Harry and Elaine Hastings.

The next party will be held on Feb. 19 with entertainment provided by Mike Johnson.
