American Legion plans U.P. tour

LANSING – American Legion officials will visit 18 Upper Peninsula posts, units and squadrons beginning with Pickford Post 323 on Jan. 12. And will conclude the tour at Iron Mountain Post 50 for the 2014 Upper Peninsula Mid-Winter Conference of American Legion Posts, Jan. 17-18.

The week-long annual excursion provides the “American Legion Family” state leadership, the means to personally assess veterans’ and community programs with Upper Peninsula representatives of more than 7,000 Legion Members, 3,000 Auxiliary members, and 1,500 SAL members.

In addition to Pickford and Iron Mountain, tour stops include: Hulbert, Trout Lake, Newberry, Engadine, Manistique, Rapid River, Gladstone, Rock, Marquette, Greenwood, L’Anse, Houghton and Lake Linden.
