Tootsie Roll(ing) in cash



Knights of Columbus Council 2026 recently announced a total of $2,756 was collected during its October 2013 Mentally Impaired (Tootsie Roll) Drive. Michigan State Knights of Columbus distributed $551, and $2,204.80 was given to area schools and the Schoolcraft County Special Olympics. Those given checks were John Shiner, Manistique Middle and High School principal, pictured above with Richard Balog, Grand Knight of the Manistique Knights of Columbus Council; and, not pictured: Fr. Glenn Theoret, St. Francis De Sales Catholic School; Ken Groh, superintendant, Big Bay De Noc School; and Sheila and David Marks, area representatives for Schoolcraft County Special Olympics.
