Trailing 16-8 after the opener, the Emeralds’ Coby Ryan netted 10 points in the second quarter to help Manistique jump out to a 26- 24 advantage at the half of the non-conference match-up in Newberry.

Up by two, Ryan hit from the floor early in the third, but the Emeralds again struggled, scoring just two more points – both from the free throw line – when the period came to an end.

A triple by the Indians’ John Paramski sparked a 17-point rally by Newberry in the third period.

Up 41-30, Newberry added 18 in the final eight minutes of play to beat Manistique 59- 40.
