Joseph J. Bosanic
He was born Jan. 28, 1929, in Manistique the son of Marcus and Josephine (Barkovich) Bosanic and attended schools in Manistique.
Joe served in the U.S. Army from January of 1947 until June of 1948 seeing duty in Panama.
On Feb. 24, 1951, he married the former Clara L. Gierke at St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique and they made their home and raised their family in Manistique.
Joe was employed by the City of Manistique and retired from the Inland Lime and Stone Company in Gulliver.
He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Manistique, was a City of Manistique volunteer fireman for 20 years and also served as an assistant Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed deer hunting and spending time with his sons at “Camp Boz & Boys”. He also enjoyed trying his luck at the casino and furthermore playing poker with his sons. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Joe is survived by his wife, Clara L. Bosanic of Manistique; daughters, Patty (Kirk Price) Fox of Manistique and Debbie (Dave) Whitcomb of Manistique; sons, Joey (Leigh Ann) Bosanic of Manistique, Frank (Shelly Frans) Bosanic of Manistique, Mark (Julie) Bosanic of Manistique, and Dan (Cindy Kaiser) Bosanic of Manistique; grandchildren, Stephanie (Adam) Marshall, Sara (Dan) Michalik, Jason (Stephanie) Bosanic,
Kyle Bosanic, Brandon Bosanic, Josh Bosanic, Caitlyn Bosanic, Eric (Holly) Bosanic, Ashley Bosanic, Laura Bosanic and Kayla Erickson; great grandchildren, Gabby, David, Danny Joe, Michael, Mila, Maddi, Jackson, Braydon, Andre, Eli, Logan, Gracie and Graclyn; brother, George Bosanic of Manistique; sisters, Anna Lander of Manistique and Mary Lander of Arizona; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Travis Gillingham; brothers, Marcus Bosanic and Michael Bosanic; and sisters, Katie Sein and Barbara Mickelson.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, at Messier- Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Parish prayers will be said at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique with Father Glenn Theoret officiating. Burial with veteran’s honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Manistique.
