SBA seeking nominations

DETROIT – SBA’s Michigan District Office is now accepting nominations for its 2014 Small Business Awards. Preliminary nomination letters may be submitted to the Michigan District Office via email.

Some of the evaluation criteria for the award category, which includes the Small Business Person of the Year, Exporter of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and Family Owned Small Business of the Year should be included in the letter.

Criteria can be found at www.sba.gov/mi.

The award winners will be honored at the 10th annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business awards event to be held May 6, in East Lansing.

The Michigan Small Business Person of the Year will be in contention for the National Small Business Person of the Year award selected at the Small Business Week event in Washington, D.C.

“It is more important than ever to recognize the successful small businesses that are responsible for contributing to a vibrant economy in Michigan,” said Gerald Moore, Michigan District director.

Letters should include the company’s number of employees, annual sales in 2010, 2011, and 2012, and the North American Industrial Classification code.
