Area ‘lighting contest’ returns until Jan. 6

MANISTIQUE – Local residents and businesses are invited to participate once again in the annual “Christmas Lighting Contest”, sponsored by the Schoolcraft County Chamber of Commerce.

Home and business owners across the county have until Dec.17, to register for the contest. To sign up, pay the $5 entry fee at the chamber office located on U.S. 2 in Manistique.

A ballot listing all entries in both residential and commercial categories will be available Dec. 23.

Area residents can complete ballots until Jan. 6. Ballots can be dropped off at the Advisor and the chamber.

First, second and third prizes will be awarded in both categories. Winners will receive Manistique Merchants Association “Merchant Bucks” gift certificates.

Merchants draw first Christmas cash wins

MANISTIQUE – The annual Manistique Merchants Association Christmas Cash drawing is back. Area shoppers can enter the giveaway by visiting any participating business and registering. No purchase is necessary.

On Dec. 20, one entrant will win a 32-inch Toshiba LED TV or a Wii game system.

Weekly drawings are held each Wednesday. The winners in this week’s drawing were:
