Operation Action U.P. plans 50-year celebration

MARQUETTE – Each year, the members of Operation Action U.P. and the business community from across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula gather to celebrate the accomplishments of businesses and share in their success. The Operation Action U.P. 50th Anniversary Annual Meeting will take place on Jan. 21, in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center at Northern Michigan University.

The day begins with networking and registration at 8 a.m. and will conclude after lunch.

The theme of this year’s OAUP is “Energizing Our Future.” The keynote address will be given by John Hofmeister, the founder and CEO of Citizens for Affordable Energy, former president of Shell Oil Company.

In addition, four outstanding Upper Peninsula businesses will receive Awards of Excellence for 2013. Nomination forms can be found at www.operationactionup.org.

Operation Action U.P. is the only private-sector economic development organization in the state, which embraces all types of industries and serves a 15-county area. Members now predominantly come from the Upper Peninsula.

Seats can be reserved online at www.operationactionup.org or by mailing a registration form.
