Holiday trees are available in forest
GLADSTONE – Holiday trees are available for cutting on Hiawatha National Forest land. Trees may be obtained with a “tree tag” purchase of $5.
To obtain a permit, in the form of a “tree tag,” stop at the local ranger district office.
Along with a permit, purchasers will receive tree cutting guidelines, information regarding cutting areas, and suggestions for flameproofing a tree.
The forest service is also offering something new this year – an online holiday tree-cutting photo album. When picking up a tree tag, ask for information on how to participate in the “Holiday Tree Cutting Photo Album Project”.
