Orchestra planning concert

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique Community Orchestra will be presenting its annual fall concert on Nov. 10. The event will take place at 3p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Manistique.

There is no admission fee, but donations will be accepted to help cover the orchestra’s expenses. The program will include arrangements of familiar works by Handel, Haydn and Tchaikovsky. American folk songs, some Broadway tunes and a piece entitled “Bugs Bunny’s Greatest Hits: What’s Up at the Symphony?” are also included in the concert.

William Rinne is serving for the second year as the orchestra’s director.

The orchestra includes musicians from Manistique, as well as from the Marquette, Escanaba, Newberry and Munising areas. New orchestra members are welcome, and the group is in specific need of more string players.

Further information can be obtained by contacting Dorene Hatfield at 341-8035 or Heidi Troyer at 341-2965.
