Woman pleads guilty to accosting

MANISTIQUE – A Gladstone woman has entered a plea in relation to a child accosting case in Manistique.

Kathy J. McDougle, 40, of 5225 18.9 Lane in Gladstone, pled guilty in 11th Judicial Circuit Court last week to one count of accosting, enticing or soliciting a child less than 16 years of age for immoral purposes, a felony punishable with up to four years in prison and/or a fine of $4,000.

One count of conspiracy with the co-defendant and her estranged husband, Dan McDougle, to commit the offence of accosting, enticing or soliciting a child less than 16 years of age for immoral purposes was dropped as part of the plea agreement.

McDougle’s attorney explained the woman, at her husband’s request, had asked her babysitter if she would be interested in engaging in sexual acts with him. McDougle said the conversation was brief and the babysitter said no.

McDougle is scheduled for sentencing on Jan. 9.
